Deputy Trade Minister Luong Van Tu led Viet Nam’s negotiators to Geneva on Sunday for the final talks on WTO membership.

According to the WTO’s schedule, after negotiations for Viet Nam’s membership conclude, the WTO Working Group will inform all member countries of the commitments Viet Nam has made in a week or so.

After all members participating in the multilateral negotiations reach agreement on the final issues, an unofficial multilateral session will be held by the Working Group on October 25.

The final official session will be held the next day. At this session, the Working Group will ratify all negotiation documents related to Viet Nam’s WTO accession, including the report of the Working Group, and the commitments on services and goods.

The Working Group says the initiation ceremony for Viet Nam will last from November 6 to 8, when it will become the WTO’s 150th member.
