World Culinary Festival draws thousands of visitors

Taste of the World Culinary Festival 2012 was kicked off on December 12 at the September 23/9 Park in District 1 in Ho Chi Minh City, drawing thousands of local and international visitors.

The City’s annual event, which takes place towards the end of the year, has been organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the city Tourism Association.

The five day event is an opportunity for people to taste the cuisines of various nations, and see the arts and diverse costumes of people worldwide.

Prestigious hotels and restaurants of HCMC will present their array for local and international visitors.

Internationally famous Chef Martin Yan, of the well-known TV program ‘Yan Can Cook’ drew the crowds with his cooking presentation. Chef Martin Yan is in town for a television program to introduce Vietnam cuisine to the world.

Other activities at the festival are a bartender performance, presentation by Chefs of five star hotels, guide to cooking Korean dishes and making the famous Vietnamese wrap and rolls dishes.

There are around 80 booths of 50 hotels and restaurants from 25 nations and territories and chef training schools at the festival.
