Worker Month launched in HCMC

Ho Chi Minh City Labor Union launched the ninth Worker Month and the action month for food safety yesterday.

With the theme “Year for the union members’ benefits”, the worker month this year is attached with the action month for food safety.

Chairwoman of the HCMC Labor Union Tran Kim Yen ordered labor unions in enterprises and offices to carry out five major programs including the Ninth Hour, Accompanying with Enterprises, Month for Good work, action for laborers’ benefits and action month for labor safety.

This peak month is to protect workers’ benefits and rights. Local administrators will have meetings with company managers to resolve difficulties during production procedures to facilitate enterprises. In the month, labor unions will focus on taking care of poor union members with incurable diseases, accidents at work or occupational disease.

Deputy Party Secretary Vo Thi Dung, head of the department of public relations under the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thi Le and Deputy Head of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Mai Duc Chinh attended the event.

On the same day, deputy party chief Vo Thi Dung paid visits to workers Phan Thanh Ngan and Le Thanh Binh. Worker Phan Thanh Ngan working at Datalogic Company in the Hi-Tech Zone in HCMC has pioneering initiatives to help his company to save materials.

Ms. Dung lauded his contribution to the enterprise deserving a shining example in the city worker’s movement “good work and creative labor”. Ms. Dung also appraised Datalogic Company which created good working environment for workers.

While visiting worker Le Thanh Binh in district 9 who is 94 percent disabled for an accident at work in 2011, Ms. Dung presented him a bank account of VND5 million.

Meantime in the day, in the Culture House in the Hi-tech Zone, the city Labor Union held fairs to provide beauty care, nutrition and healthcare consultation, free-of-charge bone mineral density measurement as well as musical performance.
