US increases anti-dumping tax on Vietnamese pangasius

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) yesterday announced preliminary decisions after the 13th administrative review (POR13), increasing anti-dumping tax on Vietnamese frozen pangasius fillets to US$2.39 a kilogram, triple that in POR12.

POR13 was conducted to frozen pangasius fillets imported from Vietnam in the phase from August 1, 2015 to July 31, 2016.
According to Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), that is the first time DOC made adjustments completely short of legal basis and regardless of usual regulations.
The decision is unfair, contrary to normal anti-dumping rules, compulsory and unreasonable to Vietnamese businesses who have exported frozen pangasius fish fillets to the US.
The decision belies free trade process and affects Vietnam-US bilateral trade relations, says the VASEP.
