The number of foreign tourists is estimated at 722,350 for January 2014, an increase of 7.5 percent since December 2013, according to the General Statistics Office. This is a 21 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
The amount of Russian tourists rose 89 percent year-on-year, Chinese tourists increase 87 percent year-on-year , and German tourists increased 58 percent year-on-year.
This year, the country’s tourism industry is expected to welcome more than 8 million foreign visitors.
In January, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed around 382,000 foreign tourists, up 12 percent year-on-year. The number of tourists flying in was estimated at 300,000, up 10 percent year-on-year, and the number of tourists entering by land and sea are 82,000, up 20 percent.
