Three Vietnamese young female scientists received the UNESCO-L’Oreal National Fellowship for Women in Science on October 25 in Hanoi.
The recipients, all Ph.D. holders, were Tran Ha Lien Phuong, teacher at HCMC International University belonging to Vietnam National University; Vu Thi Hanh Thu, teacher at the Faculty of Physics in the HCMC University of Natural Sciences; and Tran Thi Thu Thuy, Deputy Director of the Organic Bio-Chemistry Laboratory of the Institute of Natural Products Chemistry under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
The fellowships, worth VND 200 million each, are intended to help the female researchers develop and pursue research projects.
The L’Oréal USA Fellowships for Women in Science Program is a national awards program that annually recognizes and rewards women researchers at the beginning of their scientific careers.
Launched in 1998, the global L’Oreal Corporation honors contributions of women in science. Over the past 10 years, the program has awarded 52 female scientists from 35 countries and territories.
