Tens thousands of candles light up sacred land of Vietnamese martyrs

Tens thousands of candles were lit at 72 martyrs’ cemeteries in the north-central coastal province of Quang Tri to pay tribute to all war invalids and martyrs for their great contributions to the nation’s revolutionary cause in the evening on July 26.

Quang Tri which is regarded as the land of war heroes in the country is home to 72 war martyrs’ cemeteries with more than 60,000 graves, including the largest national cemeteries of Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery and the Road 9 National Martyrs’ Cemetery.
On days of July every year, the province receives millions of people, including visitors, martyrs’ relatives, leaders of the Party and State, and international friends to burn incense and pay floral tributes to fallen combatants who sacrificed their lives during the past struggles for national independence and freedom to mark War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27).
