The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Labors, War Invalids and Social Affairs reported yesterday that HCMC Social Support Center, sited in Binh Thanh District, has welcomed over 1,000 homeless individuals since August 23. It has also received 330 drug addicts without stable residence. All of them received proper medical care during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Public Security collaborated with functional agencies to perform the patrols and submit documents to gather 1,290 beggars, vagrants and homeless people at social welfare facilities to minimize the risk of pandemic spread in the community.
The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee last night urged the Department of Health, Department of Public Security, HCMC High Command, Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and heads of the People’s Committee of 21 districts and Thu Duc City to promptly concentrate on management and health care for the beggars, vagrants and homeless people in the city.
A delegation led by Deputy Chairman of HCMC People's Committee Vo Van Hoan yesterday visited drug rehabilitation centers and social houses where are raising homeless people in the Southern Province of Binh Phuoc as Tet holiday (the Lunar New Year) is approaching.
