Heavy rain triggered flooding batters central region of Vietnam

Long lasting heavy rain has inundated the central region under 0.5-1.5 meters of flood water damaging newly sown rice fields, causing landslide to kill three members in a family, sweeping away another man and disrupting many roads.

Heavy rainfall drenches central region of Vietnam

A cold front in combination with a northward low pressure trough has caused heavy rainfall in central provinces from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa, has announced National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center.

New typhoon to bring fresh downpour in central region

A new typhoon has been brewing off the south central region of Vietnam this early morning, forecast to cause medium to heavy rainfall from early Sunday, according to the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center.

Loan payment extension for flood stricken central provinces

The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has required banks to extend loan payment deadline, consider interest rate exemption and provide new loans for residents in the central region, where Typhoon Damrey and subsequent flooding have killed 91 and left 23 missing.
