The Standing Office of the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control informed that typhoon Etau yesterday slammed into Central Vietnam, killing two people in Quang Nam and Binh Dinh provinces and sinking a fishing boat in Khanh Hoa Province.

Storm Etau makes landfall, devastates Central provinces

After making landfall in Central coastal provinces between Binh Dinh and Ninh Thuan this monring, Storm Etau has started devastating houses, uprooting trees, triggering heavy rain and flooding in many places.

Storm Etau produces torrential rainfall in provinces from Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa

The Central provinces and cities from Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa have experienced torrential downpours with the precipitation of up to 400 mm on November 10-12 under the influence of a cold air mass together with  tropical storm Etau, which is close to mainland provinces from Binh Dinh to Ninh Thuan.

Airports in south central region closed on November 10 due to storm Etau

The Vietnam Airlines Group, which operates Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and Vasco, announced on November 9 evening that the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) will temporarily close several airports in the south central region due to impact of storm Etau – the 12th to enter the East Sea this year.

Storm Etau moving toward mainland provinces from Phu Yen to Ninh Thuan

According to the latest weather news from the National Center for Hydro-meteorology Forecasting, a tropical low-pressure system has developed into new storm Etau and been forecast to move toward mainland provinces from Phu Yen to Ninh Thuan in the next couple of days.
