Kien Giang allows flights to Phu Quoc Island

The People’s Committee of the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang announced that the province has not yet seen a need to halt flights to Phu Quoc Island but strictly tighten Covid-19 prevention measures, entry and exit controls through air and sea to the popular tourist destination.

More than 1,000ha of rice damaged by saltwater intrusion in Kien Giang

The People's Committee of Kien Giang Province, on March 11, informed that from the beginning of this month, saltwater intrusion in the area has increased highly, with more than 1,234 hectares of rice being affected. Of which, there were 769 hectares of rice with damage of above 70 percent, concentrating in An Bien, Vinh Thuan, and U Minh Thuong districts.

Several fishing vessels inactive in Kien Giang Province

These days, along the Cai Be River to the Ba Lich Rivulet, the section through Vinh Hoa Hiep, Vinh Hoa Phu and Binh An communes in Chau Thanh District in Kien Giang Province, several offshore fishing vessels are mooring here although it is the main fishing season of the year. The owners of these fishing vessels said that since the beginning of this year, lots of them were not able to head for the open sea due to losses.
