First batches of Thieu lychee, a specialty fruit of Luc Ngan district in the northern province of Bac Giang, in the 2021 crop left for Japan on flights arranged by national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on early May 27.

Many artists have joined hands to raise funds for medical workers, public security and military forces, and volunteers who are on the frontline battling the disease in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang province where are the worst-hit areas by coronavirus in the country.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked ministries and agencies to tackle difficulties for the northern province of Bac Giang to fight Covid-19 pandemic in the spirit of not saying "lack of money, lack of human resources and lack of policies and mechanisms".

Observing the instruction of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, many regions in Vietnam has actively applied information technology in their Covid-19 fight, gaining impressive results in timely pinpointing suspected cases and minimizing the disease spread. 

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has urged ministries, agencies, and localities to take more drastic action to drive back the COVID-19 pandemic in northern Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces while ensuring production and trade are not disrupted.

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan yesterday led a delegation of the municipal officials to visit and presented gifts to wounded soldiers in northern provinces of Bac Giang and Ha Nam on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (on July 27, 1947).

The northern province of Bac Giang pocketed some VND6.9 trillion (US$300 million) from lychee and support services this year, up VND600 billion against last year, according to local authorities.

Thieu lychee, a unique fruit of the northern  province of Bac Giang, is expected to record 5.5 trillion VND (240.28 million USD) in value this year if it can retain its current price until the end of the fruit season.
