According to the Ministry of Health, over 5,500 cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease have been recorded through the infectious disease surveillance system from the beginning of 2022 until now. The health sector has been making efforts to prevent the spread of the disease.
From the beginning of 2021 up to now, the number of children infected with hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) nationwide has escalated by 400 percent with some deaths due to serious complications. Health experts fretted that the complications of the disease leave serious longstanding sequelae in children.
According to the Ministry of Health’s dispatch 17/2019 on nine fatal diseases, medical facilities have to isolate diphtheria, whooping cough, measles, rubella, encephalitis, hand-foot-and mouth, chicken pox and mumps patients.
