Deputy Chairman of the newly-established Thu Duc City People’s Committee Nguyen Bach Hoang Phung emphasized to speed up major public-invested projects and increase disbursement rate as per the direction of the municipal People’s Committee with the focus on infrastructure projects, traffic connection projects, drainage projects, anti-flooding projects, urban renewal projects to bring considerable changes in the city.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep urged Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee to hand over premises to complete anti-flooding projects so that these projects will be put into operation by October.
Ho Chi Minh City has been making effort to tackle flooding with remarkable results but a number of projects have been behind schedule while many have inefficiently operated after being put into use because of asynchronous investment.
The Government has not allocated funds for 36 anti-flooding projects in HCMC yet, explaining that the city’s proposal to receive VND9,963 billion neither meet norms of national important projects nor suit the NA’s resolution on mid-term investment plan.
