The HCMC Delegation of the 14th and 15th National Assembly (NA) deputies led by Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Phan Van Mai visited and paid tribute to heroic martyrs at Hang Duong and Hang Keo cemeteries on Con Dao Islands, off the coast of the southern province Ba Ria-Vung Tau on May 14.
Con Dao Island, off the coast of southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, is set to become a world-class site for marine, cultural, historic and spiritual tourism, according to a revised plan for Con Dao development by 2045 newly approved by Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh.
The southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau has urged the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to promptly allocate funding to a project to connect Con Dao island of the province with the national grid, with nearly VND2.53 trillion (US$110.88 million) to be channeled from the State budget in the 2021-25 period.
The People’s Committee of the Southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau has proposed the Ministry to temporarily halt flights to Con Dao Island, excluding return helicopter flights to the island from Vung Tau City.
