Con Dao Island, off the coast of southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, is set to become a world-class site for marine, cultural, historic and spiritual tourism, according to a revised plan for Con Dao development by 2045 newly approved by Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh.
The southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau has urged the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to promptly allocate funding to a project to connect Con Dao island of the province with the national grid, with nearly VND2.53 trillion (US$110.88 million) to be channeled from the State budget in the 2021-25 period.
The People’s Committee of the Southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau has proposed the Ministry to temporarily halt flights to Con Dao Island, excluding return helicopter flights to the island from Vung Tau City.
