Many agricultural products have not been registered protection for intellectual property (IP) rights and met with difficulties in building brand names and export. So many farmers and merchants have produced and traded their products under the name of registered ones while handling of these infringements has been complicated.
Agricultural production should accord with market demand on quantity, quality and types to protect farmers from the repeated refrain of ‘bumper crop, low price', said experts at the Mekong Delta Economic Cooperation Forum opened in Soc Trang Province yesterday.
Foreign fruits, available everywhere from sidewalk stalls to supermarket shelves, have been flooding the Vietnamese market since the beginning of this month, especially in the Mekong Delta area. Thai produce, in particular, has been monopolizing the market of late.
