The Economy and Budget Division of the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City made a field trip and had a meeting with key enterprises of the city on the preparation of goods for the upcoming Lunar New Year on December 23.
The Department of Finance in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday announced pork prices in the city’s market stabilization program have been lowered by 3.6 percent-8.9 percent compared to the present prices.
For months, pork has become a hot spot due to its high prices. To ensure supply and demand, and stabilize the price, on May 27, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) gave nods to imports of live pigs to meet the demand for fresh pork of Vietnamese people.
The prices of pork have been increasing heavily due to market adjustment but pork supply will not be insufficient and will meet the demand of citizens in Ho Chi Minh City from now to lunar New Year.
The year 2019 will end in seven weeks and the lunar New Year is 20 days after the New Year. In order to ensure supply of all kinds of goods with stable prices for 10 million people, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City ordered departments and enterprises to focus on preparation of goods for Tet holidays.
The Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City collaborated with relevant departments and industries to hold a meeting to summarize the price stabilization program in 2018 and set out plan for this year on March 29.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, businesses in the price stabilization program have planned to extend their opening hours by two to four hours longer during the days near Tet in order to meet rising buying demand of consumers on the occasion of Tet holidays.
