Ho Chi Minh City is launching the Government’s project ‘Developing an Application for Population Database, Digital Identification and Authentication for the National Digital Transformation from 2022-2025, with a Vision to 2030’ (Project 06). This has shown the city’s determination in completing its digital transformation, transforming itself into a smart city, and effectively operating the common database.
Due to the newest outbreak of Covid-19 in Vietnam, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications (DoIC) offers 100 percent of its level-4 public services online to minimize direct contact between citizens and state officers, actively preventing any possible spread of the virus.
Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) People’s Committee has just approved the plan to implement IT in state operations, digital government development, and cyber security maintenance for the period from 2021-2025. This plan aims at improving the service quality towards individuals and businesses.
The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) has just held a consultation session with businesses about proper strategies for e-government development in the period from 2021 – 2025, with a vision to 2030. It is identified that this process must be strongly linked to digital transformation and smart city establishment and ensure cyber security as well as national digital sovereignty.
The Government Office this morning held a press conference in Hanoi to announce the launch of public service No.725 on the National Public Service Portal. From now on, such essential public services as electronic copy certifying, non-compulsory insurance paying, health insurance re-subscribing, level-4 driving licence issuing and changing, and administrative fine paying related to road traffic can be done online.
Just like other countries, Vietnam encourages its citizens to stay away from crowds as much as possible in this sensitive time of Covid-19 pandemic. That has resulted in the widespread of several online applications in various fields.
