By 10 am on October 31, the tropical low pressure system will be located at around 13.5 degrees north latitude and 10.7 degrees east longitude in the neighboring country of Vietnam.

Over the past 12 hours, Matmo mainly moved westward into the mainland at its speed of 15 kilometers per hour, triggering excessive rainfall of 150- 200 mm in provinces from Quang Ngai and Phu Yen.

Last night, Matmo made landfall in the South- Central provinces and cities.

The eye of the tropical storm was on the coast of Binh Dinh and Phu Yen provinces at 11pm yesterday, triggering maximum sustained wind between 60 and 90 kilometers an hour.

Amid the bad weather condition, local authorities and rescuers urgently moved thousands of households and fish farms near the dangerous areas and low lands to safer places.

The Departments of Education and Training of Binh Dinh and Phu Yen provinces allow pupils to have two- day absence from school due to the typhoon.

In order to ensure safety for the downstream areas, Khanh Hoa province decided to release water at small and medium- sized reservoirs.
