Heatstroke kills woman in Quang Binh Province

Scorching heat has killed a woman in Nguyet Ang Village in Tan Ninh Commune of Quang Ninh District in Quang Binh Province on May 17, who suffered a heatstroke while harvesting.

The National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center said that the North and Central parts of the country are currently reeling under the first heat wave of the summer season this year, with average temperatures reaching 37-39 degrees celsius. In some parts temperatures even reached 40 degrees celsius.

However, the weather forecast said temperatures will reduce in the North in next coming days.

In Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Tri Province people spent VND1.5 million in trying to drill wells to draw water for daily chores, but their efforts went unrewarded. Fresh water is in severe shortage here with the supply system in a poor state.
