Workers Clear Track After Lao Cai Landslide

Train services resumed on The Pho Lu – Lao Cai route yesterday after a three-day stoppage due to landslides, according to the Yen Lao Railway Management Company.

The Pho Lu - Lao Cai train route reopens yesterday after a three-day stoppage due to landslides.

Bad landslides early July 26 in Pho Lu in Bao Thang District, 40km from Lao Cai town, pushed 20,000 cu.m of soil along 7km of the Hanoi-Lao Cai railway route.

Company workers toiled for three days to clear the route.

But trains are still restricted to speeds of 5-10km/h on the stretch. The workers continue to clear the route so that trains can resume their normal speed of around 45km/h in next few days, Mr Nguyen Van Thang, deputy director of the company, said.
