Vietnam strengthens mutual collaboration for coping with disasters

British Ambassador to Vietnam  Mr. Gareth Ward, United States Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City Ms. Mary Tarnowka, leaders of the People’s Committee of Phu Yen province, military experts from the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Thailand, etc attended the event.

PP19 now is in the 14th iteration and the largest annual multinational humanitarian assistance, disaster preparedness and response mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific region.

Pacific Partnership aims to strengthen mutual collaboration between these partner nations in healthcare emergency preparedness for the human- made and natural disaster risks. 

Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City Mary Tarnowka shared that both the United States and partner countries desired to help Vietnam achieve targets in developing effective response capacities of anti- climate change.

According to Mr. Nguyen Chi Hien, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tuy Hoa district, this is considered as an opportunity for the locality to become a representative from Vietnam in coordination with partner countries in the Indo-Pacific region to raise their capacities, cope with climate change that contributed to development of good friendship ties between Vietnam, US and the partner nations.

The event will last until May 18, with 18 activities.
