Vietnam kicks off 18th AMAF ASEAN +3

The Eighteenth Meeting of the ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry Plus Three (the 18th AMAF ASEAN +3) was opened in the North- Central province of Thua Thien- Hue yesterday.

150 senior delegates from the ten ASEAN countries, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, leaders of relevant agencies from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of ASEAN countries and international organizations and strategical partners such as China, Japan and the Republic of Korea gathered together in the event.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh praised achievements in the AMAF ASEAN + 3 strategy in the period of 2016 - 2025 with many programs, projects, research and development activities in the field of agriculture, forestry and fishery.

Besides that, he suggested ASEAN + 3 member states to continue promoting cooperation in capacity development, technology transfer and innovation in the agricultural sector in each country.

At the conference, the delegates discussed as well as approved a number of priority contents in the agricultural sector such as ASEAN + 3 policy framework related to agroforestry food, strengthening mutual cooperation among ASEAN + 3 countries in food and nutritional security, sustainable forest management, climate change adaptation, disease control and management in plants and animals.
