Vietnam conducts fifth national population census

The content of the fifth national population census includes general information on population, immigration, education and professional qualifications, disability status, marital status, mortality, labor and employment, and basic living conditions of households nationwide, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue announced yesterday.

Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue who is the head of the national steering committee for population census 2019 said that the census was scheduled to be held between April 1 and April 25, 2019.
Head of the General Statistics Office Nguyen Bich Lam said around 9,300 inspectors of all levels and around 110,000 statisticians will carry out the census.
Total 26,2 million households with 94 million respondents excluding military officers and employees in foreign representative offices in Vietnam and their relatives in 217,586 localities will answer questions of the census.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City steering committee for population census , the city population is estimated more than 9 million presently. That means the city’s population has increased by nearly two million people within ten years, averagely 170,000 new people equivalent to 2.15 percent every year.
For the first phase of the general population census in 2019, total 8,859,688 city dwellers excluding people serving in the military force and police force and 118,284 foreigners in 2,469,302 households in 19,445 localities will participate in the census.
Head of the 2019 national population census’ steering committee Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue presided over the yesterday meeting about preparation for the census.
