At the meeting, Mr. Dung spelled out a slew of missions for the ministry in the coming phase. Tackling traffic jam for Tan Son Nhat airport is one of the priority missions in aviation field.
Specifically, the minister should prompt relevant sides to complete the airport expansion projects fastest, least costly and most efficiently. Tan Son Nhat Airport should be put in the overall airport network of the southern region and the country. In addition, the ministry should positively conduct preparation works to start building Long Thanh Airport as per schedule.
In road sector, deputy PM Dung asked the ministry to take the initiative in putting forward solutions and mechanisms to disburse investment capital efficiently for under construction projects and study suitable policies to attract social investment capital.
In short term, the ministry should invest in some important stretches of North South Expressway and major routes to connect regions.
In waterway field, the deputy PM suggested the ministry to have solutions to improve management and operation of the system of large seaports such as Cai Mep-Thi Vai, Dung Quat and Lach Huyen.
Minister Nguyen Van The affirmed that he would focus on the missions to solve traffic jam for Tan Son Nhat airport and prepare for construction of Long Thanh airport and apply solutions to reduce traffic jam and accidents.
Minister Nguyen Van The stressed that he is willing to receive direct opinions about difficulties and problems in the transport industry to gather collective strengths and fulfill assigned missions.
