In Quang Nam, the nearly 30 kilometer stretch runs from Dien Ban town through Duy Xuyen, Que Son and Thang Binh districts to Phu Ninh district.

The road was 20.5m wide in urban areas, where permissible speed is 60 kilometers per hour, and 16.5m wide in outlying areas, where vehicles can travel 80km/h.

Total investment capital approximated VND1.5 trillion (US$69 million) invested by Civil Engineering Construction Joint Stock Company No 545 under BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) form.

Quang Nam province had to relocate over 2,600 households for the road expanding project.

The Ministry of Transport, the province and investors had made great efforts to clear the site and broaden the road seven month before schedule, said chairman of Quang Nam People’s Committee Dinh Van Thu.

The project is to reduce traffic pressure and accidents in the national highway.

In Binh Thuan, the 120km stretch has been built at VND7,726 billion (US$354.32 million). Of these, 44.7 kilometers were built with BOT fund and 73.2 kilometers with Government bonds.

Construction progress was shortened by seven months as per instructions by the Ministry of Transport. The six lane road permits vehicles to travel 80km/h.

The project will not only meet travel demand of residents but also create motivations to boost socioeconomic development in Binh Thuan and the south-central region.
