Transport Ministry awards Long Thanh airport design competition

The Ministry of Transport yesterday organized an awarding ceremony of Long Thanh Airport design competition at the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV)’s headquarters.

Designs by Heerim Architects &Planners, Japan Airport Consultants-Adp Ingenierie-Shigeru Ban Architects join venture and CPG Consultants-Azusa Sekkei-Pae joint venture won three first prizes worth US$15,000 each. These companies are experienced in designing large airports in the world.
ACV’s representative said that the designs meet requirements about use function, aesthetics and show the significance of the airport and suit plan. They have been selected from nine designs at the competition.
According to the Ministry of Transport, ACV have got residents’ feedbacks about the three designs in Hanoi, Dong Nai, HCMC, Da Nang and associations nationwide. They will be further studied in the feasibility report of the project.
The investment policy of Long Thanh Airport has been approved by the 13th National Assembly at Resolution 94/2015. The project aims at building an international airport meeting 4F standard according to International Civil Aviation Organization.
Long Thanh will be an important international airport of Vietnam, developing into one of airway transit centers of the Southeast Asia region.
