Torrential rains hit northern mountainous region ​

The National Center for Hydro Meteorological Forecasting said yesterday the northern mountainous region is experiencing torrential rains.

Heavy rains occurred in Lao Cai province in the late afternoon. The rainfall was expected to reach at 54mm in Bao Thang district and 46mm in Bat Xat district.

The provinces of Lang Son, Hoa Binh, Lai Chau were experiencing torrential rains and strong winds. The rainfall was measured at 35mm in Than Uyen District, 73.6mm in Kim Tien distric; 54.4mm in Dong Bang district and 49.4mm in Cao Son district respectively.

Heavy rains hit from August 24 to 25 in Yen Bai province, causing two dead. The Lao Cai province’s Simacai district committee for natural disaster prevention & control said it sent rescue forces to localities to support local people in overcoming the disaster. Local authorities cooperated with rescue forces to searching for the missing victims and support families who damaged heavily about the property, helping them ensure stable livings soon.
