Three BOT toll booths suspended for delay in non-stop toll collection

Directorate for Roads of Vietnam yesterday said that three toll stations of BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) traffic projects have been forced to stop toll collection from July 6 because investors have been slow to install non-stop toll collection system.

The three suspended stations include North Hai Van in Thua Thien-Hue province collecting toll for two projects including Phuoc Tuong-Phu tunnel and Hai Van tunnel expansion, Cam Thinh station in Cam Ranh city of Khanh Hoa province and Can Tho-Phung Hiep in Cai Rang district of Can Tho city collecting toll for National Highway 1 expansion projects.

The Roads Directorate has many times urged these stations to install non-stop toll collection system but the investors have not cooperated.

So far, the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam has signed contract appendix with 8 out of 44 BOT stations nationwide to install non-stop toll collection system. The investors of the remaining ones have pleaded many reasons for the system launch delay.
