The Mekong Delta Province of Kien Giang People’s Committee on March 27 organized the announcement ceremony that Phu Quoc prison was recognized as special national relic following Decision No.2408/QD-TTg approved by the Prime Minister.
In 2012, State President offered the title of hero of the People’s armed forces to soldiers who were imprisoned in Phu Quoc prison and in December 2014, the Prime Minister decided to rank Phu Quoc prison as special national relic.
