Flight Crew Division 919 receives Second-class Independence Order

On behalf of the Party and the State of Vietnam, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc yesterday awarded the Second- class Independence Order for the Flight Crew Division 919 of Vietnam Airlines on the occasion of 60th founding anniversary of Flight Crew 919, the predecessor of 919 Transport Air Force Regiment.

The 919 Transport Air Force Regiment, which was established on May 1, 1959, was the first military transport aviation unit of Vietnam. By 1995, it was changed to the Flight Crew Division 919 under Vietnam Airlines. 

During the process of growth and development, the unit has performed many military and civilian missions effectively and safely. It has been responsible for specialized flights to serve the Party and State leaders. 

Besides, it has been also served publicly for people and become a bridge for trade and culture among countries.

Up to now, the total number of employees of the Flight Crew Division 919 is nearly 1,300 people, including leaders, pilots, engineers and ground service workers. Of which, nearly 1,200 employees are pilots, who have flyed over 90 domestic and international flights of Boeing 787, Airbus A350, A330, A321 and A321neo and ATR-72, including 104 planes.

The Flight Crew Division 919 currently has total 150 trainers for different aircraft types, directly training and approving for young pilots, including hundreds of foreign pilots of Vietnam Airlines.

With efforts and contributions to the aviation industry, the Flight Crew Division 919 has been received many orders and certificates by the Party and the State such as the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Ho Chi Minh Medal, First-class Labor Medal, etc.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly appreciated the contributions of the Flight Crew Division 919 in struggling to protect the country through periods, ensuring safety of passenger transport, goods and socio-economic development, completing well all national security and defense tasks and safely transported Party and State leaders in specialized flights.

The Prime Minister expressed his pride as Vietnamese pilots accounted for 75 percent of Vietnam Airlines pilots and it owned the most advanced modern technology in the world.

PM Phuc required Vietnam Airlines to continue ensuring its human resources, pilots, aeronautical engineers and applying technology 4.0 on aviation to improve its competitiveness. In addition, the equitization plan must be accelerated.
