Five injured in landslide in Ca Mau Province

Five people were injured, two of them quite seriously, in a huge landslide along the Cua Lon River in the Mekong delta province of Ca Mau on May 10.

Five people were injured, two of them quite seriously, in a huge landslide along the Cua Lon River in the Mekong delta province of Ca Mau on May 10.

The incident occurred at 1am in Nam Can District of Ca Mau Province. Two of the seriously wounded were rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.

Four houses along the river were buried in the landslide and a neighbouring house was also badly damaged. Initial damages were calculated around hundreds of millions of dong.

Nam Can District leaders immediately rushed to the site and met with families of the injured. Rescue teams were organised to help salvage whatever property they could.

District authorities distributed VND20 million(US$ 956) to each of the five affected households.

On the same day, Luu Kien Tao’s house in Thanh Tung Market in Dam Doi District of Ca Mau Province also sank into the river.
