Standing deputy secretary of Can Tho city's Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Huynh Thai Nguyen said that the event has contributed in providing safe and clean blood to help needy patients over the past few years.
The blood donation movement also raised the community's awareness about the importance of donating blood and the need for blood.
In 2007, the campaign collected 32,000 units of blood to help treat patients in hospitals nationwide during the Lunar New Year holiday.
