Disaster controller calls for teaching kids to swim to avoid drowning death

More than 30 children died of drowning within past week; therefore, the central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control called for swimming teaching for children to prevent drowning deaths.

The committee and People’s Committee in the northern province of Hoa Binh, UNICEF in Vietnam and line sectors launched a children action month “Prevention of child drowning”.
With the action month, the organizers were looking forward to joining hands between local administrations and the community to increase knowledge of drowning prevention skills for a safer environment for children.
Right after the launch, the organizer opened a free swimming course for kids in Hoa BInh City.
Statistically, last week, 30 children nationwide died of drowning with latest five drowning-related deaths in the central province of Nghe An.
Annually, most of drowning victims live in countryside districts or in places with rivers and streams. Hence, swimming teaching is necessary for them in summer vacation.
