Deputy PM urges ministries to investigate four vehicle accidents on expressway

Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh yesterday urged the Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Transport to investigate four continuous traffic accidents on Phap Van-Cau Gie expressway on March 18, killing 3 people and causing a 30km-long traffic jam.

The Ministry of Public Security should require its agencies and local governments to investigate the cause of the continuous collisions and ask the Traffic Police of Hanoi to patrol and handle traffic violations, he said.
At the same time, the Deputy PM asked the Ministry of Transport to require the construction and management units of the highway to provide data from surveillance cameras for further investigation.
The four vehicle accidents happened on the highway within 30 minutes on Sunday afternoon including one occurred between a dump truck and a 16 seat bus at 4.28 p.m on Sunday; several minutes later four cars collided continuously not far from the first accident; a tractor trailer collided with road barriers on the expressway and another accident were reported to occur between a bus and a rescue truck of the fire department which was going to rescue the victims of a crash truck, killing one firefighter and injuring 11 people.
