Dak Lak offers Tet allowance to poor people, elderly, community good models

People’s Committee in the highland province of Dak Lak yesterday announced that it allocated VND40.3 billion (US$ 1,813,500) to present gifts to good models, elderly people who are at least 80 years old and persons who serving the nation’s revolution and receiving social welfare.

Elderly people, persons who serving the nation’s revolution, staffs in arm force, state-run company staffs and welfare brackets in the city will receive VND300,000 (US$13.5) as an allowance on the occasion of the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday, which will fall on February 8 this year.

In addition, the province authority will give relatives of soldiers in Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago, oldest person in ethnic minority villages and other good models will be given VND500,000 (US$22.5).

The highland province of Gia Lai also planned to allocate more than VND23 billion to offer gifts to families who were serving in the nation’s revolution and low-income households in the province. Of the total amount, VND9 billion will be allocated for families serving the nation’s revolution and good models in the community.

Additionally, many enterprises and benefactors support the poor to celebrate Lunar New Year. For instance, the Highland region Steering Committee will support 2,500 gifts each worth VND400,000 for poor households in 17 districts in the province; Vietnam Bank of Investment and Development will give 1,000 gifts each costing VND300,000 and Duc Long Gia Lai Corporation supported VND200 million.
