Chau Doc Bridge to delete 9th ferry in Mekong Delta

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has assigned the Ministry of Transport to work with the Mekong Delta province of An Giang on Chau Doc Bridge project that will be built to replace Chau Giang Ferry in Road N1.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has assigned the Ministry of Transport to work with the Mekong Delta province of An Giang on Chau Doc Bridge project that will be built to replace Chau Giang Ferry in Road N1.

The 3.26 kilometer bridge will be built under BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) form at a total capital of VND931 billion (US$41.43 million).

The work will break ground in the fourth quarter this year and complete in the first quarter 2017.

Chau Doc Bridge will eliminate the ninth ferry in the Mekong Delta.

Previously, five strategic bridges have been built in the delta including My Thuan, Can Tho, Rach Mieu, Ham Luong and Co Chien.

In addition, three other bridges are under construction comprising My Loi, Vam Cong and Cao Lanh expected to open to traffic by 2017.
