132,000 DWT ship anchors at Hai Phong for first time

Tan Cang-Hai Phong International Container Terminal (HICT) yesterday welcomed Wan Hai 805, a large container ship with a deadweight of 132,000 DWT, for the first time.

Accordingly, Wan Hai 805 has been the largest vessel ever making port at the northern port city so far.

Wan Hai 805 belonged to a joint venture of Taiwan's Wan Hai Lines, China's COSCO Lines and Singapore’s Pacific International Lines that have constantly operated at the Tan Cang-Hai Phong International Container Terminal on a direct transportation route connecting the North Vietnam and West Coast of the United States.

The new service route helps reducing the travel time from 25 days to 19 days.

The landfall of the ship at HICT listed the seaport in the top 20 international maritime ports that are able to receive large container ships, contributing to cutting down logistics costs and attracting direct foreign investment.
