Ministry warns about possibility of spread of bird flu

The Ministry stressed the weather in the year-end is favorable for the development of the bird flu virus. Additionally, commercial and economic exchange between Vietnam and these countries through border fates increased along with surge in consumption of water fowl in holidays; accordingly it is highly likely that the disease will enter the country.

To actively prevent the transmission into human, the Ministry ordered chairpersons of municipal and provincial people’s committees liaising with the departments of agriculture and rural development to early detect outbreaks of bird flu and curb it.

These agencies must work with other related agencies to prevent smuggling of poultry and poultry products without clear indication of origin. If detecting outbreaks of bird flu, these agencies should inform the health sector to handle for preventing transmission into human.

According to the World Health Organization, the number of bird flu people in China, Laos and Cambodia increase without cease. It is recorded that four Chinese infected with bird flu H5N6, 5 others infected with A/H5N1 and two contracted with A/H7N9.

In Vietnam, since the beginning of the ear, no cases of bird flu has been detected yet there have been outbreaks of bird flu in some licalities.
