Supervisor in case of first- grade pupil death arrested

The People’s Procuracy of Hanoi’s Cau Giay District yesterday announced it has issued three-month custody order on Nguyen Bich Quy who was the student supervisor in the case of first- grade pupil death in Gateway School in Hanoi.

She was investigated for “involuntary manslaughter”.
Head of Thanh Son Law Office and Attorney Nguyen Thanh Son, who was hired to protect her rights during the investigation process, confirmed that Nguyen Bich Quy, who was in charge of monitoring students on Gateway International School’s shuttle, has been charged with “involuntary manslaughter” because of her alleged negligence resulting in the death of a first grader inside a school bus in early August.
Regarding her statement to the Police about the change of dead first-grader’s shirt, Deputy Director of Hanoi’s Police Station Major Nguyen Thanh Tung said that the case is progressing and they will even conduct DNA tests to verify the real cause.
The leader of Hanoi’s Police also affirmed that investigators have abolished the first-grader’s death because of being beaten after receiving the autopsy report.
According to the autopsy report, the boy died of respiratory failure and heat stroke and the time of death from 9 AM to 12 PM.
Concerning to the boy’s shirt change, a leader of the People’s Procuracy of Hanoi’s Cau Giay District said that the Police found out his sweaty red shirt inside his backpack. Investigators will probe who changed the boy’s shirt or he himself did it.
The first grader was found dead in the school bus when Quy prepared to pick up the students to take them home and the boy was suspected to be neglected during nine hours in the bus.
