Yesterday afternoon, Consul General Mary Tarnowka came to say goodbye to the city leader before ending her working term.
The city leader appreciated success in her working term through organizing works between the city authorities and US enterprises, social events and cultural exchange activities.
Besides that, he evaluated her efforts for visits between the two countries’ high-ranking delegations such as the visit of Defense Minister James Mattis (in October,2018) and visit of Commander of US Indo-Pacific Command, Admiral Philip Davidson (in April, 2019), visits of the Ho Chi Minh City delegations under leadership of the Secretary of HCMC Party Committee and Chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee.
Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan affirmed that the working trips were important to create conditions for Ho Chi Minh City to be able to share and learn the urban development experience of the United States, thereby building many current key plans such as the Smart City Project and the idea of establishing innovative district in the east of the city.
In the investment sector, HCMC wants the United States to continue being an active trade partner which is currently the largest export market and the fourth import market to the city. At the moment, the US has nearly 400 investment projects in the city with total capital of nearly US$ 1 billion, ranking the 10th among foreign investors in the city.
Regarding to education, Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan praised Fulbright University Vietnam for boosting educational cooperation between the two countries while the university has built the campus ang entolled the first course.
Regarding to the Vietnam-US relationship, the Consul General said that US companies want to invest into fields of infrastructure, building smart city, clean energy and aviation.
