HCMC strengthens cooperation with IMF

Politburo member, Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan received a delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Chief of the IMF's Asia and Pacific Department Alex Mourmouras yesterday.

On behalf of the city leaders, Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan highly appreciated assistances of IMF for socio- economic development of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City; and he desired that IMF would continue supporting the city in urban development in the upcoming time. 

The city Party chief shared about the city’s socio- economic development in the recent years. Currently, Ho Chi Minh City faces difficulties and challenges in mobilization of investment capital to build urban infrastructure systems; therefore, the attendance of private sectors and investors are necessary.

Ho Chi Minh City hoped that IMF would support organizing seminars and research programs relating PPP.

Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan suggested IMF consulting and supporting the city in building plans as well as sharing its experiences in mobilizing human resources from private sectors, enterprises and scientists into the city’s socio-economic development. 

Chief of the IMF's Asia and Pacific Department strongly affirmed that IMF always respects cooperation with Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City, hoping to tighten the cooperation ties and bring practical benefits for both sides. 

IMF is ready for assisting experts and technologies if the city needs to organize seminars and specialized researches about building and developing urban traffic infrastructure systems; and supporting the city in projects relating to PPP, local government budgets, local revenues increase and the national government budget spending…, added Mr. Alex Mourmouras.

Ho Chi Minh City and IMF could collaborate with State Bank of Vietnam, universities and institutes of research to hold seminars and research programs about development of high- quality human resources, assisting start- up creative enterprises and cyber security…
