HCMC provides relief aid to flood victims

Two delegations from Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and HCMC Fatherland Front Committee visited the flood hit central provinces to hand relief aid to victims during their two day fieldtrip from November 15 to 16.

The first delegation led by Nguyen Van Dua, Vice Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee brought  VND1 billion relief aid to the central province of Quang Nam and VND500 million to Quang Ngai Province.

The second delegation led by Duong Quang Ha, Chairman of the HCMC Fatherland Front Committee had gone to Thua Thien-Hue Province and Quang Tri Province and offered VND1 billion and VND500 million to flood hit victims there. In addition, delegates also offered gift packages of VND500,000 each to 400 poor households.

Earlier, a delegation of the HCMC Party Committee went to Quang Binh and Binh Dinh Provinces and to Da Nang City to provide free medical treatment and offered gifts worth VND820 million.

Delegates of the HCMC Fatherland Front Committee handed over VND7.2 billion and nearly 6.3 tons of essential commodities to flood victims in southwest and central regions including An Giang Province with over VND1.3 billion, Dong Thap Province with VND1.055 billion, Kien Giang Province with VND541 million, Long An and Vinh Long Provinces with VND435 million, Tien Giang Province and Can Tho City with VND400 million each, Quang Binh Province with 700 million and Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Quang Tri and Lam Dong Provinces with VND300 million each.

HCMC leaders called on local authorities and social organizations to continue with rescue efforts as well as sending of more relief aid to worst-hit regions to help them recover and bring life back to normal as soon as possible.
