HCMC Party Committee’s 30th meeting opens

The 10th-tenure Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee opened its 30th meeting on July 8.

Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Nguyen Thien Nhan, chaired the meeting.
Speaking at the conferecen, the municipal Party Committee’s leader stressed that the management of urban construction order in HCMC is facing with several problems, such as illegal construction works.
He asked the districts’ authorities to inspect and tackle the issue, launch measures to solve the problems and provide clear roles and responsibilities of secretaries and chairmen of the districts’ party and people comittees.
In his remarks, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, Nguyen Thien Nhan recognized that the economic growth of Ho Chi Minh City saw an increase of 7.86 percent in the first six months in 2019, like the same period last year. The economic  scale reached VND 611 trillion (US$ 26.3 billion), accounting for 24.6 percent of the country’s economy. Ho Chi Minh City has been continued to be known as the biggest economic hub of Vietnam.
During the period, the service sector grew by 8.06 percent and industry increased by 8.58 percent; construction had 1.5 percent down.
The city's export increased 9.2 percent and earned US$19.6 billion. Saigon Hi-tech Park’s export achieved US$7.1 billion, up 40 percent. The city received US$3.2 billion from forein investment, an increase of 20 percent.
He also highly appreciated the city’s efforts in administrative reform and implementation of the National Assembly Resolution No. 54; but the tardy project of using plasma gasification technology to convert waste into electricity, the low rates of local capital disbursement and foreign investment, and the city’s weak points of the public administration reform (PAR) index.
The municipal government should focus on investing in major transport infrastructures, such as the Ring Road 3, HCMC-Tay Ninh highway to ease traffic congestion this year. The following are the planning for transportation infrastructure, flood events, and population growth.
