HCMC marks 65th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory

The Ho Chi Minh City Traditional Resistance Club yesterday celebrated the 65 years of Dien Bien Phu victory (on May 7, 1954 - 2019).

Among more than 300 delegates, there were six historical witnesses who were former soldiers at the celebration.

At the meeting, they together reviewed magnanimous periods of national fierce battle. 

Chief of Internal Affairs of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Mr. Tran The Luu expressed his gratitude to the entitled generation who sacrificed their lives for national liberation.

This was also an opportunity to educate patriotic spirit for the young generation, emphasized he. 

After 56 days and nights of valiant and arduous fighting, Vietnam army destroyed all entrenched fortifications of the French colonialists, shot 62 planes and collected 62 cars and many weapons. 

The nine-year long Dien Bien Phu battle against the French colonialism gloriously ended that forced the French Government to sign the Geneva Agreement.
