HCMC leaders honor teachers on Vietnam Teacher’s Day

Ho Chi Minh City leaders and representatives from the Department of Education and Training marked Vietnam Teacher’s Day on Wednesday by honoring many senior teachers.

HCMC People's Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan and representatives from the Department of Education and Training visited the house of late professor Tran Van Giau and burnt incense in his memory, honoring him on Vietnam Teacher’s Day ( November 20).

On the same day, delegates also visited Professor Nguyen Tan Phat, former deputy minister of Education and Training and former rector of   the Vietnam National University in HCMC.

Professor Phat continued to offer consultation in the university, providing valuable   ideas and input even after retirement.

Quan expressed his admiration for the professor, wishing him a   healthy life and hoped he would continue to offer guidance to the education sector.

Elsewhere in the city, on the same day, the Trade Union of the education sector in collaboration with HCMC Television organized a meeting themed “Hearts of Teachers” to honor role models who have accomplished excellence in their careers.

On the occasion of Vietnam Teacher’s Day, leaders from the Department of Education and Training in HCMC also gave certificates of merit and gifts to 118 selected managers and head teachers.

Than Thi Thu, head of the Ideology and Cultural Board in the HCMC Party Committee and representatives from the Education Department congratulated associate professor and former director Phan Thi Tuoi and Vo Thi Ngoc Tuoi, associate professor and former vice director of the University of Technology in HCMC.
