HCMC invests $10.7 million in automobile parking fee project in downtown

Concerning automobile parking fee project in HCMC downtown to reduce traffic congestion, People’s Committee office yesterday said the project is estimated VND250 billion ($10.7 million) taken from the city state budget.

City authorities assigned the Department of Science and Investment to study the proposal of the Department of Transport for further consideration.
Owners of cars will pay fee when parking their vehicles in Hoang Sa Street ( along Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe canal ), from Nguyen Phuc Nguyen Street to Cach Mang Thang Tam Street, Ba Thang Hai- Le Hong Phong – Ly Thai To streets, Nguyen Van Cu – Vo Van Kiet – Ton Duc Thang streets.
The municipal Department of Transport said that the project’ goal is to reduce traffic gridlock in the city as well as encourage dwellers to use public transportation to curb environment pollution and supplement state budget for road maintenance and public transportation growth.
The project will be carried out from now to 2021.
