Some reports suggest the Market will move to the front of Thong Nhat Stadium in Phu Nhuan district or Bao Minh Trading Center in Tan Phu district. Authorities have yet to announce a final decision.
230 market traders had their stall leases stopped December 1 last year but have been allowed to carry out business until January 24 before Tet.
The market has been operating for four years and has created more than 1500 jobs.
The Market’s annual turnover is around VND32 billion ($1.9 million).
The market has been a favorite of those on low to average incomes, including workers, pupils and students.
