French naval ship visits HCMC for first time

The French Navy’s large anti-air frigate Forbin yesterday docked at Sai Gon- Hiep Phuoc Port to begin a five- day friendly visit to Ho Chi Minh City.

The naval ship carried 29 officials and 170 crews to implement tasks of escorting and safeguarding aircraft carriers. 

Accordingly, this is the first visit of a French Navy ship to Vietnam, being a part of the Vietnam - France defense cooperation plan in 2019, contributing to promoting bilateral defense cooperation in particular and Vietnam - France strategic partnership in general.

As plan, Colonel Thomas Frioli will meet with leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, High Command of Military Region 7, HCMC High Command and High Command of Navy Region 2 to exchange experiences related to many fields, which both sides keen on. 

This journey will last till June 3.
