The solemn ceremony to mark 45th anniversary since Vietnam and Netherlands established diplomatic ties (1973- 2018) was held in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday.

At the ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Huynh Cach Mang stressed that cooperation relations between the two countries have blossomed and become comprehensive partners in key fields. 

Particularly, relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and localities of the Netherlands have harvested outstanding achievements in the fields of trade and investment.

In the past few years, Ho Chi Minh City implemented  environmental and agricultural projects  under aids from the Dutch Government.  

Carel Richter, Dutch Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City affirmed that Vietnam is an important market for his country, and is in the list of the Netherlands’s priority cooperative countries in economy, trade and investment.

For the Vietnamese market, Ho Chi Minh City is also one of the leading destinations for the Dutch enterprises as well as investors. 

In 2017, two- way trade turnover between Vietnam and the Netherlands hit US$ 7.7 billion. The partner is currently the second largest exporter of Vietnam in European markets.

By December of 2017, Vietnam attracted around 304 projects from the Dutch businesses with a total investment capital of US$ 8.17 billion, ranking the 11th position among 116 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.
